Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $2,359,337)
The funding will support the Division of Criminal Justice within the Colorado Department of Public Safety to assist local victim service agencies to serve the victims of the March 22, 2021 shooting at the Table Mesa King Soopers in Boulder, CO. Program funds will support necessary and ongoing trauma-informed, evidence bases healing and resiliency services to direct and indirect victims of the shooting. This award will reimburse Mental Health Partners for costs incurred related to the establishment of the Boulder Strong resiliency center including three clinicians, a caseworker, and a supervisor at the center. In addition, funding will support the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office to provide victim advocacy and travel expenses for the victims or the family members of the deceased victims to participate in critical stages of the criminal justice process including the trial. A small portion of the funds will reimburse the overtime costs for the coroner's office for its provision of direct services to the victims including death notifications.
