1. APRI surveyed 118 prosecutors' offices that serve rural jurisdictions. The survey focused on staffing, roles and responsibilities, types of services offered, barriers to providing services, and strategies for overcoming these barriers. The overall response rate was low (less than 40 percent or 45 offices). To supplement the low response rates, APRI conducted phone interviews with nearly 20 offices, bringing the overall response rate to 55 percent. To document the promising practices identified by APRI through the survey, extensive phone interviews were conducted.
