Victim advocates, law enforcement officers and social services agents who understand how animal cruelty co-occurs and predicts crimes against military and civilian survivors — and how abusers exploit the intense emotional bonds women and children have for their pets — can “connect the dots” by working collaboratively to prevent all forms of family violence. This webinar will introduce seven distinct links between animal cruelty and domestic/child/elder abuse and show how agencies working with both civilian and military populations can better protect survivors by screening for, and responding to, animal welfare issues.
