The speaker will cover the federal Crime Victims’ Rights Act and relevant tribal codes. The session will also include specific examples of where tribal traditions have been included in the court process, for example at sentencing. Finally, the training will cover special protections provided to child victims and witnesses in federal court. The goal of this webinar is to provide examples of laws, programs and initiatives for victims of crime in tribal communities so that similar efforts may be replicated in communities looking to build a comprehensive victims’ rights program.
