This 3-day Learning Community will focus on how the State of Hawaii created and implemented a statewide response to provide meaningful access by creating the Office of Language Access. Participants will hear from various state agencies and community partners on how the need was identified, the process that was used to create the Office of Language Access, and how it has transformed services to victims of crime. Participants will also learn from federal civil rights professionals about compliance requirements and best practices. The Learning Community will assist VOCA Administrators in developing or enhancing language access plans both in their offices and through support and monitoring of subrecipients.
