January 29-30:
-Strengthening Sovereign Responses to Sex Trafficking in Indian Country Conference (9 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day). Through this event, we will bring together advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, health care providers, tribal enterprises staff, tribal leadership, and others committed to eliminating sex trafficking of American Indian and Alaska Native adults and youth. Workshops will offer discipline specific foundational-level understanding of sex trafficking of Native victims, as well as more in-depth information such as: conducting trauma-informed interviews and prosecutions; promising practices in anti-trafficking efforts; working across disciplines using a victim-centered approach; data collection; and considerations when working with special populations (such as persons with disabilities, youth, and LGBTQ Two-Spirit individuals). Sessions will focus on strategies to support American Indian and Alaska Native survivors of sex trafficking while holding perpetrators accountable.
