Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $450,000)

Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, a non-profit organization located in Cleveland, Ohio proposes to enhance the response of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division to youth who are victims of human trafficking or at risk for human trafficking. The target audience for this program are youth who are involved with or diverted from the Safe Harbor Docket at Juvenile Court, which was created to enable juvenile victims of human trafficking to access treatment rather than face punishment. The Juvenile Court works with youth who were under the age of 18 at the time of complaint; the majority of youth served are between 14 and 17 years old, but can range from nine years old to over 18. The majority of youth served will be Cuyahoga County residents. The applicant anticipates that many of the youth served will be Black youth from families living below the poverty level.
