Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $505,000)
The Lake of the Ozarks will utilize this funding to support a fully-trained multi-county taskforce to act against human trafficking activities in the area, and a need for a network that can be used to track and detain human traffickers throughout the lake area counties. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is working to create a multi-county taskforce that will provide a strong inter-community network within Camden County, Miller County, and Morgan County. One goal of this taskforce will be to provide intense training for a multidisciplinary group that includes Law Enforcement personnel within the counties; Missouri’s Children’s Division; State of Missouri Probation and Parole; Court Probation Officers; Juvenile Officers; Forensic Interviewers; and advocacy groups, among others. The taskforce will work with the United States Marshalls and Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as local and state entities, to accomplish this goal and others. Along with training and forming partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, the multi-county taskforce would also purchase equipment to assist in additional training for personnel, as well purchasing software to create a database to track human traffickers, potential trafficking activity, and victims. The taskforce would also work toward rescuing, supporting, and housing human trafficking victims, as well as providing necessary treatment and rehabilitation.
