Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $500,000)

The City of Jersey City is requesting funding to expand its Peaceful Families for a Healthier JC program. The Peaceful Families program is a court-ordered program that is an evidence-based, trauma-supported educational program intended to address the root cause of domestic violence cases with a specific focus on behavioral, cognitive, or generational patterns. If awarded funding, the City will expand this program to serve an additional 300 participants. Project activities include onboarding licensed social workers and additional facilitators to teach the new cohort groups, training and educating new facilitators, and acquiring materials and education to support the increase in participants. Expected outcomes include an increase in participants, an increase in graduation and success rates, and a decrease in the number of domestic violence cases in the Jersey City area. Residents of Jersey City will be the primary beneficiaries of this project and there are no subrecipients involved with this project.
