The Woman’s Opportunity Rehabilitation Center Justice Services is located in Hempstead, New York and serves clients residing within the Town of Hempstead. WORC Justice Services oversees two components of the Woman’s Opportunity Rehabilitation Center (WORC). The first component is WORC which is a gender specific program designed to meet the needs of women with misdemeanor and/or felony cases pending before the court. The primary goal of the program includes but is not limited to reducing the need for detention/incarceration and advocating for WORC to be used as an alternative to incarceration. Each woman undergoes a COMPAS assessment which identifies their specific risks and needs. In collaboration with the case manager, an individualized case plan is created to address their risks and needs with the overall goal of addressing criminogenic thinking and reducing recidivism.
