Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $440,000)

Through this award, Canopy NWA will develop the Building Bridges to Care: Increasing Capacity to Serve Foreign National Victims of Human Trafficking in Northwest Arkansas project to create a comprehensive suite of trauma-informed direct services and referrals designed to meet the needs of the growing number of foreign national survivors of trafficking residing in Washington and Benton County, Arkansas. The goal of the project is to create accessible pathways to care for trafficking victims by expanding its capacity to deliver comprehensive, trauma-informed support services. Canopy NWA will leverage its current partnerships as well as its internal case management, housing, and employment services to serve victims of trafficking and work towards increasing awareness of labor and sex trafficking in local communities whose higher rates of poverty, limited English proficiency, and immigration status result in increased vulnerabilities to trafficking, notably the local refugee and Marshallese COFA migrant populations.
