Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $200,000)

The Aurora/Arapahoe Battered Women's Shelter will provide culturally responsive services to meet the basic needs to victims of domestic violence, their children, and their pets. The project will serve underrepresented populations that are culturally diverse and very low income in the city of Aurora including both Arapahoe and Adams County, Colorado. These funds will cover expenses related to meeting clients' basic needs including food, transportation costs as well as costs associated with moving as clients transition out of shelter into their own apartment including housing application fees, rent and utility deposits, moving expenses and costs associated with obtaining documents needed for housing.
