Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $200,000)

The purpose of this grant program is to provide culturally responsive services to crime victims and survivors from communities that have been historically underserved; marginalized; adversely affected by inequality; and disproportionately impacted by crime, violence, and victimization. With this funding, AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUTH HARVEST FOUNDATION, INC., will provide clients and their family members with stabilization support and assistance with any other immediate needs to secure their safety such as housing, transportation, food and clothing, legal advocacy, trauma-informed counseling, and psychiatric care.The target population specifically includes communities adversely affected by crime, violence, and victimization, including people of color and people living in poverty in the Travis County, Texas area. Services to be provided will include transportation, housing, food, physical and mental health care, childcare, clothing, and legal advocacy.
