Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $470,000)
The purpose of this project is to enhance the services and interventions provided to victims by law enforcement agencies in rural areas. The grantee will continue to administer a demonstration project involving several rural law enforcement agencies in Alabama receiving subgrants. In the first phase, the subgrants supported a community needs assessment by each subgrantee agency and the design of a plan to improve victim services in the respective jurisdiction. The primary grantee provided substantial technical assistance. In the second phase, the primary grantee provided additional funding to the subgrantee sites and continued technical assistance and support in the implementation of the sites' plans to improve victim services. In the final phase, the grantee will support continued implementation of the efforts developed by subgrantees through additional funding and technical assistance. A critical component of the grantee's final phase will be to help the subgrantee sites build sustainability for their projects after federal funding ends. The grantee will compile a final report documenting the activities of the demonstration project.
