Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $35,000)

The goal of this project is to improve the capacity of law enforcement, prosecutors, child protective services workers, therapists, social workers, victim advocates, medical professionals and affiliated professionals to respond to child victims of abuse and neglect. To accomplish this goal, project staff at the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is requesting funding to support the Annual Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas, Texas. The 3 ½ day Conference will employ case studies, lectures, panels and interactive workshops to provide practical and current information that can be used by frontline personnel who investigate and prosecute crimes against children. Under the instruction of national experts, the conference will provide both basic and advanced victim-sensitive training in the detection, investigation, and prosecution of child physical and sexual abuse, child exploitation and neglect, and child fatalities.
