Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $75,000)

Through this FY 07 Action Partnerships Cooperative Agreement, the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) will provide their members with training that addresses understanding the economic problems faced by survivors of domestic violence. NACA is a national organization of 1200 attorneys who represent individuals in consumer litigation. NACA has partnered with the National Consumer Law Center and the Center for Survivors agency to form the Consumer Rights for Domestic Violence Survivors Initiative to raise awareness and promote understanding among their members about complex consumer laws and economic justice issues that affect the long-term physical and economic safety of domestic violence survivors. NACA, with their partners, will develop and present workshops at their three major national consumer rights conferences to educate consumer attorneys about issues faced by victims of domestic violence and domestic violence attorneys about consumer justice tools and encourage them to collaborate to address economic concerns faced by survivors.
