Through this FY 07 Action Partnerships Cooperative Agreement, The American Bar Association (ABA) Fund for Justice and Education will implement 'The Child Victims' Rights Project,' the goal of which is to develop a focused expertise within the ABA to enhance legal representation of child victims of crime through increased knowledge of victims' rights, enhanced legal skills and a deeper understanding of issues faced by child victims. They plan to accomplish this through publishing articles on child abuse victims in Criminal Justice Magazine, Criminal Justice Newsletter, and the ABA Child Law Practice, developing programming on child abuse victims' rights at ABA Conferences, and attending and providing technical assistant at other related forums and conferences. As part of the focused ABA group on Child Victims' Rights, the project will also undertake the enhancement of the Criminal Justice section and Center on Children and the Law web pages. Finally, ABA will seek to develop leadership, infrastructure and capacity within the ABA to comprehensively address child victims' rights by engaging ABA advisory groups and proposing policy resolutions in support of these victims.
