Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $75,000)

The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to support the planning and development of victimization-focused public awareness campaigns targeted at underserved and socially isolated populations that will raise community awareness of crime victims' rights and services.

The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Florida Legal Services, and the Rural Women's Health Project, with support from local domestic violence shelters will develop and distribute 25,000 fotonovelas in Spanish-speaking migrant communities in 20 counties. The fotonovela, a comic-book like publication that conveys information through a story, will describe the crime of domestic violence and provide information to victims about how to access the toll-free domestic violence crisis and legal hotlines services, as well as the shelter, victim advocacy, and legal services that are available from domestic violence shelters in their communities.
