Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $500,000)

The purpose of this project is to provide culturally appropriate victim training and technical assistance (T&TA) to American Indian and Alaska Native communities and affiliated organizations to address their diverse needs and achieve the broadest impact on expanding crime victim services in Indian Country. The work plan addresses: developing a plan for the delivery of T&TA; identifying and developing innovative training materials and reviewing tested strategies; identifying culturally appropriate model protocols and victims' rights codes; maintaining a Website to disseminate resources and information; developing assessment tools to measure the quality and effectiveness of delivered services; providing onsite T&TA visits to assist grantees with program implementation; and conducting advisory board and planning meetings to further program development.
