Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $35,000)

The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) State Victim Assistance Academy (SVAA) Initiative addresses the demand for more coordinated and multidisciplinary approaches to training victim service providers and allied professionals. Its aim is to provide state level victim assistance academies that deliver a blend of educational and skills based training for professionals that routinely deal with crime victims.

This award provides the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault (the Network) with $35,000 in funding to establish a SVAA. The Network will utilize these funds to operate the steering committee that will lead the planing and implementation efforts for a five day residential training for victim service providers and allied professionals in South Dakota.
