Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $597,027)
The purpose of this award, one of many projects funded under the Specialized Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Grant Program, is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to assist victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended, by enhancing interagency collaboration and the coordinated community response to victims of human trafficking, and through the provision of high-quality, specialized services that address the individual needs of trafficking victims over a three year project period.
The Covenant House California (Los Angeles) will leverage various local, state, and federal resources for the provision of intensive case management, outreach, crisis shelter, access to transitional living programs, mental health and medical services, substance abuse counseling, education and employment services, life skills and wellness services, and legal services for homeless, trafficked youth victims ages 18-24 identified through this initiative within Los Angeles, CA. In addition, the program will support efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking victims through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities.
