Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $443,785)

The Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program is created to assist American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to develop, enhance, and sustain a comprehensive victim assistance program that (1) provides a coordinated collaborative multidisciplinary response to victims of crime, their families, and the community and (2) provides trauma-informed, culturally competent holistic services to all identifiable victims of crime, their families, and the community.

Specifically, with this funding the project will: 1) hire a Domestic Violence Advocate to provide services to victims of the Standing Rock reservation; 2) increase community awareness through intervention and outreach services; 3) support the shelter by hiring a receptionist; 4) provide shelter and office supplies for both staff and residents; and 5) purchase a vehicle for advocates to assist victims.
