Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $948,409)
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is committed to enhancing the nations capacity to assist crime victims and provide leadership in changing attitudes, policies, and practices to promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. The OVC FY 2018 Advancing Hospital-Based Victim Services Demonstration Initiative seeks to improve linkages between the victim services field and hospitals and other medical facilities to increase support for victims of crime, improve victim outcomes, reduce chances of further victimization, and provide dedicated technical assistance resources to support these efforts.
With this award, the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. will create a Center for Trauma and Resilience to leverage existing supports available for crime victims and improve coordination, service delivery and the continuum of care available for those impacted by violence, trauma and abuse. OVC funding will support system-wide training on trauma-informed approaches for staff, expand availability of on-call consultative service for crime victims seen throughout the hospital, develop a hospital/community learning collaborative, and implement a system-wide policy to address violence across all hospital departments.
