Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $450,000)

The Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance (CTVA) Program supports American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to develop, enhance, and sustain a comprehensive victim assistance program that (1) provides a coordinated collaborative multidisciplinary response to victims of crime, their families, and the community and (2) provides trauma-informed, culturally competent holistic services to all identifiable victims of crime, their families, and the community.

The Karuk Tribe Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program requests funding to: 1) advocate for victims’ rights; 2) provide emergency assistance in the immediate aftermath of crime; 3) provide ongoing support to alleviate the trauma associated with crime; and 4) ease the process of participation in the criminal justice system.
