Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $440,115)

The Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance (CTVA) Program supports American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to develop, enhance, and sustain a comprehensive victim assistance program that (1) provides a coordinated collaborative multidisciplinary response to victims of crime, their families, and the community and (2) provides trauma-informed, culturally competent holistic services to all identifiable victims of crime, their families, and the community.

The Yurok Tribe requested funding to enhance their current Elder Advocacy Program. Enhancements include: 1) providing direct victim services and advocacy for elders and vulnerable adults who have been victims of abuse/neglect; and 2) complementing existing cross-departmental outreach efforts by bringing awareness and education of elder abuse and of victims’ rights; providing case management services, direct advocacy, and referral services to elder victims of abuse; and enhancing outreach to the vulnerable elder target population.
