Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $750,000)
The Enhanced Collaborative Model Task Force to Combat Human Trafficking Program is designed to support the development and enhancement of multidisciplinary human trafficking task forces that implement collaborative approaches to combat all forms of human trafficking, including sex and labor trafficking of both foreign nationals and U.S. citizens (of all sexes and ages), within the United States. The task forces will implement victim-centered and coordinated approaches to: identify victims of all types of human trafficking; investigate and prosecute sex trafficking and labor trafficking cases at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels; and, address the individualized needs of victims through quality services. Awards will be made to a lead law enforcement agency and a lead victim service provider within each task force.
This award will be made to the Western District of New York Human Trafficking Task Force and Alliance (HTTFA) project partners: Erie County Sheriffs Office (ECSO) and International Institute of Buffalo (IIB), working throughout the 17 counties of the Western District of New York: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates. Investigative and prosecutorial efforts will encompass all 17 counties and service provision will be concentrated on Erie and Monroe counties, where the largest numbers of victims are identified.
