Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $609,376)
The purpose of this award, funded under the OVC FY 2019 Advancing the Use of Technology to Assist Victims of Crime, is to support organizations that demonstrate innovative strategies to create, expand, or enhance the use of technology initiatives on a national scale or that can be replicated nationally to improve response, services, and access for victims of crime.
The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (National DEC) and their project partners will use this $609,376 award to develop an innovative technology application (a mobile phone app) to improve access to information and services for drug endangered children in four diverse communities that can be replicated nationally. The app will include information about the impacts of drug abuse on children, and links to national and local services that address their trauma. The app will be developed through input from victims, community members, and professionals assisting drug endangered children. By developing an app, information and services for drug endangered children will be more easily accessible to those that are helping them, whether a parent or family member or professionals. The objective is to facilitate assistance to drug endangered children at an earlier point and be able to heal and be healthy children, and eventually healthy adults.
