Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $675,000)
The goal of the FY 2019 Direct Services to Support Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this program supports direct services to victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking, as well as for efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities over a three-year project period.
The Santa Barbara County District Attorneys Office Victim Witness Assistance Program will use this award to partner with the Santa Barbara Sheriffs Office to support the Santa Barbara County Human Trafficking Task Force (SBCHTTF). Funding will allow for expert victim advocates and Rape Crisis advocates to provide critical comprehensive victim services and a countywide 24/7 resource to identify and enlist appropriate services for adult and minor, female and male, victims of human trafficking. Furthermore, grant funding will build upon early efforts to collect, share, and analyze data towards making data and evidence-based system decisions and improvements.
