This grant award made to Central Bucks Regional Police Department, is funded under OVC FY 2020 Law Enforcement-Based Victim Specialist Program, Purpose Area 1: Small-Agency, which is designed to develop or enhance and sustain crime victim specialist programs within law enforcement agencies and better coordinate services to victims to more quickly and more effectively serve the victim assistance and compensation needs of all crime victims and inform them of their rights as crime victims. The grantee will create a Law- Enforcement Based Victim Specialist Unit to better support victims of crime at the point of police contact to reach more victims needing support. In this project CBRPD has partnered with Buckingham Township Police Department and Plumstead Township Police Department to serve the Boroughs of Doylestown, Chalfont and New Britain; and, the Townships of Plumstead and Buckingham, located in Bucks County, PA. The Victim Specialist Unit will improve the availability of victim services by: identifying and providing victim support at the Jaw enforcement level of contact for victims of crime; providing referrals and support services for crime victims including crisis intervention services, emergency transportation to court, security measures and transitional housing; providing assistance to victims through trauma-informed investigative interviews, updated
on status of case, criminal justice proceedings and obtaining state victim compensation. CA/NCF
