Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $270,000)

This grant award made to City of Salisbury, is funded under OVC FY 2020 Law Enforcement-Based Victim Specialist Program, Purpose Area 1: Small-Agency, which is designed to develop or enhance and sustain crime victim specialist programs within law enforcement agencies and better coordinate services to victims to more quickly and more effectively serve the victim assistance and compensation needs of all crime victims and inform them of their rights as crime victims. The grantee will hire a department-based Victim Specialist Program Coordinator to help reduce the number of criminal incidents involving victims. The project will serve victims within the Salisbury city limits. Intervention services for victims is necessary to improve the treatment of crime victims by providing referrals to services necessary to support and aid victims throughout the criminal justice process. Victims will be assessed by the Coordinator, and SPD will assess the individual's needs and service delivery.
