Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $1,684,000)

The purpose of this award, funded under the program OVC FY 2020 Services for Minor Victims of Sex Trafficking, is to develop, expand, and strengthen assistance programs for minor victims of sex trafficking. Under the authorizing statute, the term "sex trafficking of a minor" means an offense described in section 1591(a) of title 18 or a comparable state law, against a minor.

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services will provide services to minor victims of sexual exploitation including comprehensive case management, trauma-informed mental health services, substance abuse counseling, legal services, residential treatment options, and a non-traditional host home program. Specialized training for a variety of human trafficking professionals will be provided including law enforcement. CA/NCF
