Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $417,336)

DOJ and OVC have long recognized the critical need to support American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) victims of crime. Over time, OVC has conducted a number of tribal consultations and listening sessions to gather input from our AI/AN partners regarding the Crime Victims Fund tribal victim services set-aside. Based on the information gathered, OVC will allocate the FY 2020 funding by an interim discretionary administrative formula. The formula being used was created with significant input from tribal leaders and from the information gathered from the consultations and listening sessions. Under this award, The Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria requested funds to expand its Victim Services program to provide responsive victim services in a safe and private environment. With this funding, the Bear River Band of Rohnerville Racheria will: 1) purchase a mobile office/response vehicle to reach more victims, provide safe and private space, and adequate space for program staff to have workspace, and 2) pay two years of salary of the Victim Services Program Coordinator to provide crisis intervention, case monitoring, emergency assistance, mentoring, resource and counseling referrals, and transportation.
