Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $500,000)

The goal of the FY 2020 Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to support housing assistance for victims of all forms of human trafficking throughout the United States, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this solicitation supports programs that provide 6 to 24 months of transitional housing with support services to victims of human trafficking who are in need of housing as a result of human trafficking. Funding will be provided over a three-year project period. Under this project, YouthCare will enhance and expand housing assistance and supportive services for victims of human trafficking. This project will serve young people ages 18 to 24 in King County, Washington who have been identified as victims of labor trafficking and/or sex trafficking. YouthCare will implement a community based housing model with a subsidized rent structure, leveraging the agency’s existing infrastructure of housing and support services. OVC funding will support short-term housing assistance for victims/survivors to cover costs associated with accessing and maintaining independent stable housing. This will include rental application fees, deposits, relocation costs, and utility set-up. The Case Manager will work one-on-one with victims/survivors to provide ongoing support in accessing employment and education opportunities, developing life skills, and integrating into the community. This project will provide 16 housing units annually, serving 16 victims of human trafficking annually. CA/NCF
