Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $498,000)

The goal of the FY 2020 Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to support housing assistance for victims of all forms of human trafficking throughout the United States, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this solicitation supports programs that provide 6 to 24 months of transitional housing with support services to victims of human trafficking who are in need of housing as a result of human trafficking. Funding will be provided over a three-year project period. United Way of Pasco will fund an intensive case manager based in the Land O’Lakes office to serve the entire county. Through collaboration with the Pasco Housing Authority, the project will provide 15 housing units in a year that will provide safe respite, recovery, and a fresh start to 15 victims or roughly 25 individuals when considering potential family members of victims. The intensive case manager will provide the victims with support services. Healthcare and legal aid have been identified as the greatest needed service in the community by stakeholders serving trafficking victims as well as survivors. United Way of Pasco will partner with Bay Area Legal Services for legal aid and Premier for healthcare. Victims will also be connected with partner agencies providing services for basic needs, trauma counseling, employment counseling, educational resources, transportation, advocacy, and any other need that arises.
