Tricia Everest has helped transform the service community in Oklahoma City through her leadership, vision, and ability to get other leaders to the table to create change. She is the founding chair of Palomar, Oklahoma City’s Family Justice Center, which removes barriers for abuse victims to access the services they need, as well as the founding chair of ReMerge, which diverts mothers from prison and empowers women to build healthy foundations for themselves and their children.

In 1992, Jennifer Luther was met by two young men hiding in the bushes as she arrived home from work. As one of the men held a gun to her arm that fateful night, he took her purse and shot her. During her recovery, she worked to understand how someone could harm a fellow human being. In 2007, she was accepted into the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, where she continues as an active member studying and training behavior change.

Sachiri Henderson, Founder of BEAST Crew, Inc., is a 10th grader who founded BEAST (Bullying Ends Against Students Today) at the age of 8 in response to the bullying she experienced. She started the BEAST CREW club in middle school and attracted over 80 members to use their voice to create change and combat bullying using social media platforms.

Jennifer Dunn is the Director of Victim Services, Waukesha County (Wisconsin) District Attorney’s Office. In her 23 years in that role, she has expanded the program far beyond its initial reach, helped thousands of crime victims, and has become well-known in Wisconsin as a leader, innovator, and collaborator in the work of victim services.

Pfawnn Eskee | 2021 National Crime Victims' Service Awards Tribute Video

Pfawnn Eskee, is a licensed clinical social worker with Utah Navajo Health System and provides behavioral health services to rural tribal communities. Her work encompasses the effects and intersection of trauma from victimization. As a member of the same community to which she provides services, she provides a trusted compass to healing for those who must navigate the path.

Victor I. Vieth | 2021 National Crime Victims' Service Awards Tribute Video

Victor Vieth, Chief Program Officer, Education & Research, Zero Abuse Project, first gained national recognition for his work in addressing child abuse as a prosecutor in rural Minnesota. As a result of this work, he was named to the President’s Honor Roll of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children.

Acquanette Lindsay is a Victim Witness Specialist with the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Ohio, where she ensures that witnesses are physically and emotionally available to testify. Ms. Lindsay’s passion stems from the trauma that her and her siblings experienced as children and has been redirected into helping other crime victims understand what happened to them as they navigate the legal system.

Chief Deputy Guard, Pitt County (North Carolina) Sheriff’s Office, has specialized in investigating domestic violence cases for almost two and a half decades. Legislators and victim advocates have consulted Chief Guard on the creation of state legislation for domestic violence response. Chief Guard has developed and implemented several innovative programs designed to increase victim safety and offender accountability.

Jennifer Elmore | 2021 National Crime Victims' Service Awards Tribute Video

Jennifer Elmore is a survivor, who sought justice and healing by standing up to her father, a U.S. Army two-star Major General after a childhood of sexual abuse. Ms. Elmore helped to form Survivors United, an organization of military crime victim survivors advocating for changes in the way the military investigates and prosecutes sexual assault. She has testified before the Defense Advisory Committee appointed by Congress to assess the military’s response to the epidemic of sexual assault within its ranks and addressed multiple victim rights conferences.

Robin Taylor, Deputy Sheriff, Geauga County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Office, Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Unit, began her career as a uniformed first responder, before accepting a position as the Violence Against Women Act Deputy in 2010, where she now specializes in the investigation of violent crimes perpetrated against women. Deputy Taylor is Co-Chair of the Geauga County Sexual Assault Response Team, and a subject matter expert for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council’s domestic violence curriculum.

Jeannette M. Adkins, Retired Director/Administrator, Michael’s House Child, Advocacy Center, Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, is a pioneer, leader, and visionary in the victim services field. For over 38 years, she has advocated for victims of crime at the local, state, and national level. Ms. Adkins co-founded the Ohio Crisis Response Team in 1996.

JoNell Efantis Potter, Ph.D., FAAN, APRN, Professor, University of Miami (Florida) Miller School of Medicine, is a trailblazer in the creation of a medical and mental health model of care for survivors of human trafficking. One of her proudest accomplishments is founding the THRIVE (Trafficking Healthcare Resources and Intra-disciplinary Victim Services and Education) Clinic, one of the first such clinics in the Nation devoted solely to the medical and mental health care of survivors of all forms of human trafficking.
