FY 2020 ITVERP Exhibit 5: Average Time Denied Claims Spent in Each Step of the Claims Process Chart

This bar graph shows the average length of time required to complete each step in the application process for denied claims. Time to review claims and clarify policy implications averaged 102 days, time for incident designation* averaged 276 days, and time to review recommendation memo (OJP) averaged 129 days.

*Note regarding Time for Incident Designation: NSD had already designated the incident for two of the claims. OVC sent one NSD designation request. The other five claims did not include enough information to submit a request to NSD for designation.
