During National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the OVC Center for VOCA Administrators released a new podcast series, “Crime Survivors, the Power of the Personal Story,” where survivors share their experiences so that victim service professionals and concerned community members can do better to identify and meet the needs of crime survivors.
The goal of this podcast series is to develop a deeper understanding of victims’ experiences accessing services, and a deeper awareness of victims’ rights, access, and equity concerns with the goal of identifying new processes and practices to improve the field.
The podcast series launched with Juanita Batchelor—a survivor, advocate, and activist willing to share her powerful personal story. She discusses the hurdles crime survivors go through trying to exercise their right to victim compensation and what can be done to improve victim compensation services.
