Exhibit 5: Applications Received by ITVERP.

This bar graph shows the number of applications received during the past six reporting periods. From September 2006 to August 2007, 24 applications were received; from September 2007 to August 2008, 17 applications were received; from September 2008 to August 2009, 55 applications were received; from September 2009 to August 2010, 90 applications were received; from September 2010 to August 2011, 38 applications were received; and from September 2011 to September 2012, 35 applications were received.

Exhibit 6: Status of All ITVERP Claims (as of September 2010).

This pie chart shows the status of all 261 ITVERP claims, as of September 2012—26 claims were active, 171 claims were paid, 39 claims were denied, and 25 claims were declared claimant unresponsive.

Exhibit 7: Average Length of Time To Process ITVERP Claims.

This table shows the average length of time to process claims during the reporting period, based on the status of the claims. The 171 paid claims took an average of 567 days. The 39 denied claims took an average of 311 days.

Exhibit 8: Average Time Spent Processing ITVERP Paid and Denied Claims.

This pie chart shows the average length of time required to complete each step in the application process. For paid claims, 30 percent of the processing time was used to complete the application (claimant), 16 percent was used to determine eligibility (FBI, NSD), 26 percent of processing time was used to verify expenses (ITVERP and providers), and 28 percent was used to review recommendations (OVC). For denied claims, 15 percent of the processing time was used to review claims and clarify policy implications (ITVERP, OVC, OGC), 35 percent was used for incident designation (NSD), and 50 percent was spent reviewing recommendation memos (ITVERP).

Exhibit 9: Number of Reimbursement Requests by Expense Category.

This bar graph shows the number of reimbursements requested, by category. During the reporting period, there were 16 reimbursement requests for medical expenses reimbursement, 13 reimbursement requests for mental health expenses, 19 reimbursement requests for property loss expenses, 19 reimbursement requests for funeral and burial expenses, and 18 reimbursement requests for miscellaneous expenses.

Exhibit 10: Estimated Future Liability of ITVERP.

This pie chart shows the portion of all reimbursements paid to each expense category. 37 percent of reimbursements were for medical expenses; 10 percent were for mental health expenses; 14 percent were for property loss expenses; 22 percent were for funeral and burial expenses; and 17 percent were for miscellaneous expenses.

Exhibit 11: Estimated Future Liability of ITVERP.

This bar graph shows ITVERP’s estimated future liability, by type of reimbursement. ITVERP’s estimated future liability of $155,838 comprises $9,771 in medical expenses, $9,373 in mental health expenses, $8,811 in funeral and burial expenses, $61,627 in property loss expenses, and $69,257 in miscellaneous expenses.
