The Secret Service investigates 21st century’s financial crimes, which are increasingly conducted through cyberspace. These investigations address counterfeit, credit card fraud, wire and bank fraud, computer network breaches, ransomware, and other cyber-enabled financial crimes.

U.S. Department of the Treasury: Financial Crimes Enforcement Network

Through cooperation and partnerships, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network safeguards the financial system from illicit activity, counters money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and promotes national security through strategic use of financial authorities and the collection, analysis, and dissemination of financial intelligence.

Fraud.org provides advice about telephone or email solicitations and report possible telemarketing or Internet fraud to law enforcement agencies.

Internet Crime Complaint Center

The Internet Crime Complaint Center allows users to file complaints online concerning suspected cyber-facilitated criminal activity. Its website also offers statistics, scam alerts, and fraud prevention tips. The Federal Bureau of Investigation operates the program.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

The FBI is the principal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Justice. Its mission is to protect the United States from terrorist and foreign intelligence activities; investigate violations of federal criminal law; and provide assistance to federal, state, local, and international agencies.

U.S. Department of Justice: Tribal Justice and Safety

The Tribal Justice and Safety website provides information for American Indian and Alaska Native Tribal governments to further improve the safety of their communities. This site also provides information to the general public and other federal agencies to better understand the resources available for improving safety in American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

National Criminal Justice Association

The National Criminal Justice Association represents state, Tribal, and local governments on crime prevention and crime control issues. Its members represent all facets of the criminal and juvenile justice community, including law enforcement, corrections, prosecution, defense, courts, victim-witness services, and educational institutions to federal, state, and local elected officials.

Concerns of Police Survivors

Concerns of Police Survivors provides resources to help rebuild the lives of survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

National Institute of Justice: Tribal Crime and Justice

NIJ's research on Tribal crime and justice seeks to—

  1. provide an accurate reporting of crime and violence;
  2. provide reliable, valid estimates of the scope of the problem; and
  3. identify barriers to and possible solutions for dealing with these significant public safety issues.

Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program

ICAC helps state and local law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and Internet crimes against children. This assistance encompasses forensic and investigative components, training and technical assistance, victim services, and community education.

Foundation Aiding the Elderly

The Foundation Aiding the Elderly works to bring about national reforms and enforcement of the laws governing the long-term care industry and its regulatory agencies to assure proper care; civil rights; and meaningful, dignified life for older individuals in long-term care facilities.

International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc.

The mission of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. is to provide leadership, education, training, consultation, and support services in comprehensive crisis intervention and disaster behavioral health services to the emergency response professions, other organizations, and communities worldwide.

The Doe Network

The Doe Network is an international volunteer organization devoted to assisting law enforcement in solving cold cases concerning unexplained disappearances and unidentified victims. A family support liaison is available to assist families with missing loved ones by answering questions on how to report your loved one missing to law enforcement or adding a listing on their website or NamUs. 

AMBER Alert

The America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response (AMBER) Alert System is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the wireless industry to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child abduction cases. The AMBER Alert website provides information on issuing AMBER Alerts, toolkits for raising awareness, and more.

Vera Institute of Justice

The Vera Institute of Justice combines expertise in research, demonstration projects, and technical assistance to help leaders in government and civil society improve the systems people rely on for justice and safety.
