Under this FY 2021 TVSSA Award, CHEROKEE NATION (The Cherokee Nation) will provide culturally-appropriate victim services using approaches and strategies best aligned with meeting community needs. The awardee will report semi-annually on number of victims served, services provided, and other relevant data. In addition, to address significant needs for expanded victim services resulting from the McGirt decision, the Cherokee Nation will use an addition sum of $227,330 to pay the salaries of 2 additional Victim Coordinators to assist with providing victim services for individuals impacted by the decision. These Victim Coordinators will support clients through the case and process all the paperwork to assist victims; communicate with agencies to facilitate aide to victims; prepare victims to testify in court, work with victim advocates and special victim assistants, and maintain the case management for these victims' cases.
