Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $3,292,543)
The Wisconsin Department of Justice proposes to implement the Antiterrorism and Emergency Assistance Program. The purpose of this program is to fund and support the provision of victim services related to the 2021 Christmas Parade attack in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Project activities include outreach; victim compensation; medical care and support; behavioral health treatment; translation services; and the establishment of the United for Waukesha Resiliency Center. Expected outcomes include: the provision of behavioral health services for victims and first responders of the parade attack; multilingual victim resource navigation, outreach, and support via the United for Waukesha Resiliency Center; the provision of first responder wellness and resiliency training and support; and the provision of financial assistance to persons with crime-related expenses. Persons directly and indirectly affected by the crimes perpetrated during the 2021 Waukesha Christmas Parade attack are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
