Volunteers of America – Greater New York (VOA-GNY), in partnership with Safe Horizons, a local human trafficking service program, will provide emergency shelter and rapid rehousing to address the needs of immigrant victims of labor and sex trafficking in Brooklyn, New York. Program services, staffing, outreach materials and strategy and partnerships will address inequities faced by primarily Spanish-speaking victims from Latin America and the Caribbean. All participants receiving housing services will have access to bilingual staff specializing in housing navigation, case management and economic empowerment services, to promote long-term financial and housing stability and safety from future victimization. Through established partnerships, participants will be connected to supportive services including, medical, mental health and substance abuse treatment, legal representation on family law, immigration, labor, abuse and benefits issues, and job training. VOA-GNY will collaborate with government, non-profit and other partners to identify resources and solutions to reduce disparities in the identification and intervention into human trafficking among immigrant populations and other subpopulations, particularly the under-reporting of labor trafficking.
