The purpose of this grant program is to provide culturally responsive services to crime victims and survivors from communities that have been historically underserved; marginalized; adversely affected by inequality; and disproportionately impacted by crime, violence, and victimization. With this funding, ASIYAH WOMEN'S CENTER, INC., will expand its culturally responsive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault from Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, South Asian (AMEMSA) community and the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color community in Brooklyn and Staten Island, New York. Services to be provided will include assistance with job readiness, such as resume building, job applications, interview preparation, skills building courses, English as a second language (ESL) classes, transportation, and post-employment skills. Specialized counseling and support groups will also be offered, tailored to the victim’s needs, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
