Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $500,000)

Under the FY 2018 Integrated Services for Minor Victims of Trafficking program, all grantees are required to serve all minor victims (boys and girls under age 18) of all forms of human trafficking (sex and labor). The grantee will work with OVC Program Managers and Training and Technical Assistance Providers to ensure all victims are served. Heartland Human Care Services (HHCS) will serve minor victims of labor and sex trafficking (youth under 18 years old—male, female and transgender) and their family members in Cook County, Illinois. HHCS will collaborate with federal, state, and local partners to: 1) ensure availability of high quality, trauma-informed, rights-based services for minor victims of labor and sex trafficking in Cook County; 2) increase identification of and support to survivors through training; and 3) demonstrate impact through data collection activities. HHCS will provide direct service to 30 survivors; conduct 4 trainings per year; and document the progress of the project. HHCS is committed to helping survivors retake control of their lives, feel safe, enjoy physical and emotional health, and realize the human rights to which they are entitled. CA/NCF
