Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $2,000,000)

The purpose of this award, funded under the program OVC FY 2020 Services for Minor Victims of Sex Trafficking, is to develop, expand, and strengthen assistance programs for minor victims of sex trafficking. Under the authorizing statute, the term "sex trafficking of a minor" means an offense described in section 1591(a) of title 18 or a comparable state law, against a minor.

On behalf of the County of Alameda, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office (ACDAO) will work with 20 partner agencies to expand and strengthen assistance programs for sexually exploited minors (SEM) in Alameda County, California with objectives that include achieving increased safety, self-sufficiency, well-being, and independence. The proposed programs will connect SEM with emergency services within the first 24 hours of engagement, provide them with long-term residential care, and provide ongoing coordinated case management and other needed services. ACDAO will work to prevent the sexual exploitation of minors through training, outreach and education, and treatment of purchasers.CA/NCF
