This roadmap, published by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), and the Office of Victims of Crime (OVC), aims to assist anti-human trafficking task forces with planning and development. Developing a multidisciplinary anti-human trafficking task force is a process that requires significant time, attention, and intention. In recognition of the challenges involved in this process, this roadmap provides new and experienced anti-human trafficking task forces alike with guidance to assess and plan task force development from start to sustainability. A multidisciplinary anti-human trafficking task force supports and encourages a collaborative effort among local and federal law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim service providers. Since 2004, the U.S. Department of Justice has provided federal funding to support the multidisciplinary task force approach. These task forces uphold the intent of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) by ensuring that all trafficking victims are identified and receive access to a comprehensive array of supportive services, and that the crimes of human trafficking are successfully investigated and prosecuted at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels
