This Resource Guide is intended to help communities plan and implement a variety of public education and community outreach activities to commemorate National Crime Victims' Rights Week, April 13-19, 1997.

Abstract

The theme for the 1997 National Crime Victims' Rights Week is "Let Victims' Rights Ring Across America." This week provides an opportunity to pay tribute to crime victims and to recognize the many advocates and allied professionals who provide them assistance and support. The goal is to gain the public's commitment to ensuring fair treatment and comprehensive services for all crime victims. This Resource Guide contains public education and community awareness materials; information about resources available free from the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, both in paper and electronic formats; resources for the news media to help promote the week; tatistical overviews that address 14 topics relevant to crime and victimization; a list of 17 toll-free information and referral numbers for victims assistance; and camera-ready artwork for posters, bookmarks, buttons, cover/title page for material,
