Director Hart Discusses Opportunities to Support States at Administrators Conference

On Monday, August 31, 2020, Office for Victims of Crime Director Jessica E. Hart spoke at the 2020 Victims of Crime Act Administrators National Training Conference. This annual event hosts state Victims of Crime Act Administrators who manage formula victim compensation and assistance grant programs—the cornerstone of support for victims throughout the Nation.

Director Hart spoke about the importance of developing productive relationships with Administrators and thanked them for their dedication to victims. “... My office will continue to strive to develop close and positive relationships with [Administrators] to deliver needed services and expanded access to compensation for all crime victims,” stated Director Hart.

Director Hart also addressed a number of programs that are being stood up to assist Administrators, including—

  • a program to provide specialized, targeted training and technical assistance on federal grants administration and management and for Administrators and subgrantees;
  • a program to increase awareness of victim compensation programs; and
  • an initiative to help reach underserved victims, particularly older victims or those in rural and Tribal areas.
