Children may be the first ones affected by a parent’s or caregiver’s substance use and the last ones that receive help.
The newly released CheckDEC app connects drug endangered children, families, and professionals to information on substance use, crisis helplines, treatment information, supportive resources, and services within their area.
The app was created by the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (National DEC) and offers content in both English and Spanish.
Users can submit their own story, message of hope, or offer support via video or text to encourage and inspire others to have hope.
Professionals can use the app to connect with National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children resources and share information with children and their families.
In September 2022, National DEC plans to launch Phase 2, which will offer additional content, tools, training, and methods of connection and communication.
