Join The Ark for a Denim Days painting party where participants will transform their jeans (or denim) into works of art to support survivors of sex violence. Denim Days originated from a case in 1992 in Italy where a young woman was raped by her driving instructor. The perpetrator was convicted but later acquitted by Italian Supreme Court because the victim wore tight jeans, she must of helped the perpetrator remove them, thus implying consent. In response women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to show solidarity with the victim. This event inspired the creation of Denim Day, an annual event where people worldwide wear jeans to protest against sexual violence and support survivors.
